HOME OPENER IS A BATTLE FOR FIRST PLACE

ETOBICOKE, Ontario: The Humber Hawks, who have had a solid start to the 2015 season by way of a win over Niagara and a tie with the current OCAA champs from Seneca, will battle the undefeated and untied Sheridan Bruins on Tuesday night at Centennial Park. Kick-off is slated for 6:30 pm.

Sheridan had an easy way with the newcomers to the league, in the University of Toronto-Mississauga Eagles, winning by way of 7-0 decision. Then, in a close one at home, they knocked off the tough Niagara Nights 1-0. They are led by Arianna Mouratidis and her two goals. Six other Bruins have potted goals this season already, indicating a team that has many offensive weapons. The fact that they have not given up a goal displays their solid commitment to defensive play as well.

Niagara is the only common opponent to date, with Humber beating the Knights 2-1 on the Niagara home field in Welland. As mentioned above, the Hawks then secured a scoreless draw with Seneca. The Hawks played without striker and two-time goal scorer Ashley Osorio, as she was serving a one-game suspension, but she will be in the Hawks line-up on Tuesday. Veteran Keeper Tania Serafino returns, and has been more than solid in the Humber net. Humber is a team laden with experience players, and big games is what they play for.
