OAKVILLE, Ont – The rivalry between No. 1 Humber men's soccer (5-0 1st Central) and the Sheridan Bruins (4-1, 2nd Central) continues this Saturday at Sheridan Field.

The Opening Kickoff

  • The Hawks continue to boast one of the top backfields in the province, led by three-time OCAA Defensive Player of the Year Kingsley Boasiako.  Humber's defence has allowed 21 shots on goal in five matches thus far.
  • With two goals against George Brown, Luca Baldassarre moved into second in the league with seven tallies.
  • Eugenio Garro and Nick Frenati have combined for three clean sheets this season.

Last Time Out

In a tough road matchup, the Hawks blanked the No. 9 George Brown Huskies (3-1-1, 3rd Central), 3-0, at Birchmount Stadium.  Freshman Nick Frenati turned aside nine shots for his second shutout of the season.  Tomasz Balicki scored his second goal of the season, establishing a new career-high.

Scouting Humber

  • With 20 goals, the Hawks are the highest scoring program in the province.  Seven players have found the back of the net, 13 coming from Baldassarre and All-Canadian Jaineil Hoilett combined.
  • Humber's 0.40 goals-against-average is the top mark in the OCAA.

Scouting Sheridan

  • The Bruins sit second in the league with 19 goals this season.
  • Sheridan has won three straight matches, its last a 6-1 win over UTM.
  • At home, the Bruins own a 2-1 record, their only loss coming from George Brown.
  • Since 2012, the Hawks are 6-1-2 against Sheridan.

Last Meeting
Last season the Hawks went to Trafalgar and blanked the Bruins 3-0.  Player of the Year Marcos Nunes, Jordan Piccinin, and Hoilett all found the back of the net.  All-Star Karman Singh picked up his fifth shutout of the year.

Climbing the Ladder
Fifth-year forward Michael Aigbokie currently sits in a tie for second all-time on Humber's career scoring list with 29. 

Hoilett's goal on Wednesday was the 19th of his career, tying Hall of Famer Andrew DaSilva for sixth all-time; while Baldassarre sits eighth with 18 career tallies.

At the Helm
Michael Aquino returns for his fourth season as the head coach of the Humber men's soccer program.  The 2017 CCAA Coaching Excellence Award recipient has led the Hawks to three national championships, three provincial championships, and an overall record of 56-2-4.

Humber will begin its four-game homestand Wednesday, October 4 against Conestoga (0-4-1, 6th Central).  Kick-off is set 4:30 p.m.
