No. 1 SOCCER DEFEATS FLEMING, 2-0, ADVANCES TO SEMIFINALS

The Hawks will advance to the OCAA Championship semifinal match for the ninth consecutive year.

PETERBOROUGH, Ont -- The No. 1 Humber Hawks men's soccer team (11-0) will be making its ninth straight appearance in the OCAA Championship semifinal match after defeating the Fleming Knights (3-7-1) Thursday evening, 2-0.

Humber scored in each half and will now play No. 12 Algonquin (8-3-1) in the semifinals on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.  The Hawks fired 11 shots on net, while the Knights were only able to muster one on target - which was easily turned away by all-star Nick Frenati.

After a slow start to open the tournament, All-Canadian Jaineil Hoilett found the back of the net for his ninth tally of the season in the 25th minute.  A creative back-and-forth between all-stars Daniele Clemente and Joshua Portillo allowed Hoilett to get open and the Brampton native buried the ball in the top right corner.

Humber continued to press as the match went on, narrowly missing multiple scoring chances. Fleming keeper Sam Barrett kept his team in the game, finishing the night with ten saves.

Humber put the game out of reach in the in the 83rd minute when all-star Gianlucas Scorzafave fanned on a bicycle kick right to Michael Aigbokie, who found the back of the net for the third time this year.

Jaineil Hoilett was named player of the game for Humber in the win.
