SOFTBALL FALLS TO MOHAWK TO FINISH FOURTH AT CHAMPIONSHIP

BRAMPTON, Ont – The Humber Hawks will finish without an OCAA Softball medal for the second straight season after a disappointing end to the 2017 campaign, falling to the Mohawk Mountaineers 10-4 in their second game on day one at the OCAA Softball Championship.

Humber's Myranda Pierson had a tough afternoon in the circle as she surrendered eight runs on five hits over her 3.2 innings.

The Hawks managed 13 hits including five for extra bases, against Mohawk but struggled to cash in with runners on base stranding eight throughout the game.

Humber didn't score their first run on the Mohawk pitcher until the bottom of the fifth inning off a RBI single by Aaliyah Davidson to bring their deficit to eight. Humber would fall back down nine runs in the bottom of the sixth off a Mohawk home run their third of the game.

The Hawks would manage to put up three runs in the bottom of the seventh off RBI's from Davidson, Meaghan Murphy, and Emily Erskine. Unfortunately, the Mohawk lead would prove too significant to overcome for Humber, and despite a strong 2017, this loss will put an end to their season.
