HAWKS NAME DUAINE BOWLES HEAD COACH, REMOVE INTERIM TAG

ETOBICOKE, Ont – Duaine Bowles was named head coach of the Humber women's softball team Wednesday after one year as interim head coach and two years as an assistant coach.

"Duaine did an impressive job as our interim head coach this past season," said Humber director of athletics Ray Chateau. "His approach is very student-focused and he clearly understands the development of the whole person through the sport of softball. He is creating a positive team culture and is personable and energetic himself. He has a strong grasp of the demands of recruiting. Duaine will continue to meet the challenges and lead our program to great success."

Bowles, a 2012 Humber graduate, helped lead the Hawks to the OCAA playoffs and its highest team on-base percentage in four seasons.

"I'm thrilled and yet humbled to have this opportunity to lead Humber women's softball," said Coach Bowles.  "Our team made some great strides this season and established a strong foundation for the future. We are excited to continue this progress, not only on the field, but also with our leadership on campus and in the community."

The Humber Hawks will be hosting the 2017 OCAA Women's Softball Championship in October and Coach Bowles is excited at the prospect of returning a championship to Humber on home soil.

"Winning a championship in front of our home fans is our ultimate goal," added Coach Bowles.  "Every day is a process and if we continue to work hard, I think we will be in an excellent position to reach that goal."
