HAWKS HOSTS GEORGE BROWN ON SATURDAY AT HOME IN CROSSOVER PLAYOFF

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team (14-4, 3rd West) will begin the quest for their twelfth consecutive OCAA women's volleyball title at 1:00 pm this Saturday afternoon at the Humber Athletic Centre, as the George Brown Huskies (8-10, 5th East) roll in for a "crossover" playoff game. The winner will advance to the Final Eight Championship tournament which is being held on February 22-24, 2019 by Cambrian College in Sudbury.

OF NOTE HISTORICALLY

In their history of participation in OCAA women's volleyball, George Brown has never medaled at the OCAA Championships. The Hawks, as mentioned above, have won eleven straight crowns and a league best fifteen overall. Since 1989 (30 years), the Hawks have only missed out on the podium on six occasions.

The playoff archives are hard to navigate, but it is clear that the two teams have never met in regular season play, and sparingly at best in exhibition or tournament play.

ON A ROLL

George Brown has won three consecutive matches, all 3-0 sweeps of Centennial, Georgian and Loyalist. Centennial (11-7, 4th East) and Georgian (6-12, 7th East) are both playoff teams

Humber has won two straight and six of seven. Their latest win was a thrilling five-set road win over the Mohawk Mountaineers (13-5, 4th West)
