Foley Set To Join Humber Volleyball For Upcoming Season

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks women's volleyball program is pleased to announce the signing of Olivia Foley for the upcoming 2018-19 varsity season, announced head coach Chris Wilkins.

Foley, a five-foot-eight middle/outside hitter from Toronto, Ont., joins the Hawks after a successful playing career at York Mills Collegiate Institute. A captain of the Titans co-ed and senior girls team, Foley was named the 2018 Female Athlete of the Year.

"The coaching staff is excited to have Olivia commit to our program," said Coach Wilkins, who is Humber Athletics all-time winningest coach. "She plays with a ton of energy and is very athletic.  I'm looking forward to helping her grow as a complete player and become a dominant player in the CCAA for years to come."

Foley has played competitive volleyball for seven years and competed in the Ontario Summer Games in beach volleyball.

"I was attracted to the varsity athletics program at Humber College and how well the department takes care of their student-athletes," said Foley. "I also felt very welcomed when I visited the campus and I am very excited to play volleyball for the Humber Hawks."

Foley has enrolled in the Kinesiology program, a four-year degree from the University of Guelph-Humber.

"I am interested in pursuing and earning a bachelors in kinesiology degree because unlike other programs, it offers courses related to sports medicine and teaches students the science behind the athletic movement and human anatomy," said Foley when asked why she chose her program. "Being an athlete myself I tend to be drawn to an education about healthy active living and how it impacts the society."

Foley will join incoming recruits Hayley Henderson, Lauren Schneider, Danae Campana and Karlee Manella for the 2018-19 varsity year, as the Hawks look to capture their 12th consecutive provincial title.

Last season, Humber finished 26-0 in OCAA play, extending its conference win streak to 152 straight matches.

Humber volleyball tryouts begin September 4 and all full-time Humber and UGH students are welcome to attend. Any student wishing to attend tryouts are encouraged to fill out the online Prospective Athlete Form.
