HAWKS LOOK TO RETURN TO THE NATIONAL PODIUM

CHILLIWACK, BC: The Hawks trip to the 2014 CCAA Men's Golf National championship returned a result that the Humber squad had not experienced in its history, and that was being absent from the podium at the conclusion of a national golf event.

The ten-time CCAA champion Hawks will be looking to move back to the podium this coming week, as they vie for the 2015 crown. The nationals will be hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley, and will be held at the Chilliwack Golf Club.

The Hawks are scheduled to arrive on Sunday, and will play two practice rounds on the championship course, starting with an extra one on Monday and then the scheduled practice round on Tuesday.

The 2015 CCAA Championship Banquet, on Tuesday night, will signify the official opening of the event. OCAA Silver Medalist Scott Benzoni will be honoured on this night as a 2015 CCAA All Canadian.

The three-round tournament will commence with the first round on Wednesday, followed by rounds two and three on Thursday and Friday. It is important to note that there is no rain date, and that the event will be completed on Friday. As in the past, there is always a possibility that a three-round event could be decided after a single round.

Humber enters a very skilled and experienced five-some, a team that won two of the three rounds at the OCAA Provincial event, but just fell shy of the top spot won by the host Niagara Knights.

"I have liked the make-up and compete level of our team all season long", said Hawks head coach Nick Trichilo. "This is a very experienced group, one that will be focused from the first tee to the last putt come Friday afternoon".

The key to the Hawks success in the 2015 Nationals may well sit on two factors. First, is to get off to a strong start and be among the leaders after the first round, but anything over double figures behind could be devastating. The second lies in what is out of their hands, and that is weather. The depth and  skill set of this team really does come to the front over the span of an entire event, and losing a round due to weather could prove harmful.

On the individual side, it is not out of the realm to consider every Hawk player to be among the leaderboard throughout the event. Every player in the Humber line-up has had exceptional individual results in the Fall exhibition tournament season.
