HAWKS GOLF PLACE SECOND AT NCAA EVENT IN NEW YORK STATE!

OLEAN, New York: The Humber Hawks men's golf team, 2011 provincial and national champions, took their "show on the road" to New York State this weekend to participate in the St. Bonaventure Golf Tournament.

Humber was back on the links after defeating the European national champions Stirling University, of Scotland, in match play. This match play event also included Roberts Wesleyan University, from Rochester.

Playing against U.S. based teams is not unusual for the Hawks, as they often play in NCAA level events as part of their year-long schedule. An event at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania is coming up on September 22-24, as well.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS:

The Humber Varsity Men's Golf Team fired the low team round of the day at the St. Bonaventure University Invitational with a score of 290. The Hawks struggled in round one shooting an uncharacteristic 306 and were sitting in 5th enter the day's play. Outstanding rounds of 72 by Alex Dumais, Ben Bell and rookie Christian McCullough along with Ben McFaul's 74 led to a team total of 290 and 596 for the tournament. The Hawks finished 13 shoots behind the host St. Bonaventure Boonies team. Ben Bell finished in third individually.
