NEVER-SAY-DIE HAWKS ADVANCE TO CCAA NATIONAL GOLD MEDAL GAME
FREDERICTON, NB: The Humber Hawks men's curling team, seeded fourth in the 2019 CCAA National Men's Curling Semifinal, defeated the number one team from Fanshawe by a score of 7-5 on Monday night.
With the win, Humber will be looking to add a second national crown to the Hawk's varsity trophy case. The Hawks will face the Concordia Thunder (ACAC) on Tuesday at 11:30 am. Concordia tied Fanshawe at 6-1 for first place after pool play, but were handed the number two seed after losing to the Falcons in head-to-head play.
The Hawks were just an end or two away from exiting the battle for CCAA gold, as they started with a record of 1-3, and had to fight back to even get in the playoff conversation. They advanced by way of a final game victory over Lakeland. Both teams ended at 4-3, but Humber advanced by way of winning the tie-breaker between the tied teams.
