ETOBICOKE, ON: There will be three Humber Hawks curling teams vying for OCAA championships this coming weekend at the Glendale Curling Club in Hamilton. The Hawks will place teams in all three disciplines for the first time since they swept all three titles during the 2016/17 season.
In addition, the women's and men's curling teams will be playing for an opportunity to advance to the CCAA National Championship event in Fredericton, NB in March. The gold and silver medalists will advance from the OCAA, but a third team may still be accessed to complete the fill process should a conference be unable to fill out their designated spots in the draw. There is no mixed curling division at the Canada-wide event.
Last season, the women's and men's advanced to the final four by way of strong round-robin results, but were unable to find a podium spot.
This year the teams have all played extremely well, acquiring a number of strong results, including the men winning the Fanshawe Invitational and the women winner the Humber Bonspiel.
