HAWKS OPEN DEFENCE OF THEIR TITLE THURSDAY AT CENTENNIAL
ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team, winners of the last ten straight OCAA championships, will look to for number eleven as they open the 2018 championships at Centennial College on Thursday night. The opponent will be a familiar one, as the Humber squad will face another West Division team in the Mohawk Mountaineers from Hamilton.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
- Humber, at home, swept La Cite in three straight sets
- Mohawk, on the road, defeated the Durham Lords in four sets
2017/18 HEAD TO HEAD
The teams played twice this year in regular season play, with the Hawks winning both matches. The first was a come from behind nail-biter for Humber, as they battled back from down 2-0, 17-12 in the third, to take the next three sets and the win on the road in Hamilton. The second match was held recently at Humber, and it was the Hawks that prevailed in three straight sets.

SCOUTING MOHAWK
- The Mountaineers are led by head coach Matt Schnarr. Although this is his first year coaching the women full time, he coached both teams last year and led the men to an OCAA title
- As indicated, the Hamilton based team is strong both offensively and defensively, ranking at or near the top in many areas
- They are led by a threesome that check in with very similar offensive numbers. Danielle Kamps and Jessica Heidbuurt have identical 3.4 point per set marks, while Lindsay Vandeweide is very close behind, at 3.3 pps
HAWK NOTES
- As mentioned earlier, the Hawks have won ten straight OCAA crowns and have a current run of 148 OCAA league and playoff victories
- The team stats, with regards to overall totals is a bit skewed, as Humber has played 11 less sets than the Mountaineers. With that being said, Humber still ranks incredibly high In all categories
- Breanna Golding leads the way, and checks in with a career high mark of 4.4 points per set. She is capably supported Jasmine Lougheed (3.1), Brynne Coleman (2.9) and Devan O'Connor (2.8)
HISTORY WATCH
- Head Coach Chris Wilkins continues to build on his all-time coaching wins mark at Humber. It currently sits at 335 wins. In his 17 years, his teams have only lost 41 times.
