SHORTHANDED HAWKS STAY PERFECT WITH 3-1 ROAD WIN AT NIAGARA

WELLAND, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team (11-0, 1st West), depleted by way of injury and flu, battled throughout to a 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20) win over the host Niagara Knights (7-4, 3rd West).

All four sets were well played, a credit to the two teams who have been battled for OCAA podium spots consistently over the past number of years. Humber and Niagara were tight in the first set, until the Hawks created separation just beyond the 15 point mark, and they never looked back. The next two sets somewhat mirrored each other, as the set losers held a lead late, only to be unable to finish and losing by close margins. The fourth and final set was controlled from the onset by the visiting Humber squad, as they held a five point lead of 18-13, and then rolled the rest of the way to victory.

The Hawks' Brynne Spence-Coleman and Breanna Golding finished with 18 and 16 points each.

Humber will now return to the floor by way of another road game on Sunday, as they head to Kitchener to play the Conestoga Condors. The first serve is set for 1:00 pm, at the newly refurbished Conestoga College Athletic Centre.
