ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team (9-0, 2nd West) will return to league action on Sunday afternoon at the Humber Athletic Centre, as they entertain Windsor's St. Clair Saints (6-3, 4th West).
The Hawks returned home from San Diego this past Friday. Humber joined a number of Canada's top college and university teams for a number of friendlies, along with team training and bonding exercises. Although the games were classified as scrimmages, Humber was very successful and arrived home with a mark of five wins, 2 losses and a tie (1-1 in set play).

LAST TIME OUT
Humber comfortably knocked off the last place and winless Boreal Vipers in three straight sets (25-11, 25-11, 25-17). Boreal has only won two sets of the thirty-two they have played in this season. The Hawks coaching staff spread out playing time throughout the entire roster, providing valuable touches for players who may not get significant time in other matches. Julia Watson led Humber with 16 offensive points (9K, 4A, 3B). Freshman Danielle Miles also hit double digits, as she registered 10 points (6K, 4A).
SCOUTING ST. CLAIR
- The Saints are 7-29 all-time in regular season play against the Hawks. Their last victory was during the 1995 season, losing the 25 straight to Humber
- They have experienced a kind of flip-flop season so far, winning two in a row and then dropping a game three times in the first half, accounting for their 6-3 record
- As a team, St. Clair ranks in the top 10 of every team statistic, topping out as the second best in digs with 497
- Te-Anna Stephenson leads the way offensively with an average of 3.1 points per set, which puts her in 17th spot in the OCAA. Kaila Crough follows closely behind with a mark of 3.0 pps
- Kimberley Quintanilla has done most of the setting duties, and she has contributed 282 assists on the season
HAWK NOTES
- As mentioned above, Humber has trained and played significant games over the past two weeks, and barring injury or sickness, should be ready to go in the second half
- They have only dropped two sets all season, and those were in a single match where they came from 2-0 down to win the game
- Humber defeated St. Clair 3-0 in Windsor earlier in the season, with two of the sets close
- The Hawks rank in the top two of many team statistical categories, including first in hitting percentage and service aces per set
- Second-year star Breanna Golding leads the way individually, and she places second in the entire league with a mark of 4.3 points per set. Two other Hawks check in above the 3.0 pps plateau, with Jasmine Lougheed at 3.4 pps and Devan O'Connor at 3.33 pps
CHASING HISTORY
- With every win, the team establishes a new record for consecutive OCAA league and playoff wins. The mark heading into Sunday's game is 139 straight wins
- As well, head coach Chris Wilkins builds upon his Humber leading 326 wins as a head coach. In this time he has only lost 41 of 367 games for an astonishing winning percentage of .888
- Breanna Golding is close to being on the cusp of some all-time numbers, but with her only in her second year will still need to continue with her fine play to break into any top five list
