GOLDING NAMED OCAA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

WINDSOR, Ont: Humber women's volleyball freshman Breanna Golding (Pickering) was named the 2017 OCAA Rookie of the Year in a vote by the league coaches, the conference announced on Friday. Golding becomes the first Hawk to earn OCAA Rookie of the Year honours since Brittany Vanderlaan in 2014-15.

Additionally, Golding claimed a spot on the All-Rookie Team and was named an OCAA First Team All-Star.

Competing in 15 matches this season, the six-foot-one outside hitter finished third in the OCAA west division in scoring after averaging 3.8 points per set.  Golding also finished second in blocks per set (0.71) and fourth in aces per set (0.71).

After finishing 18-0 for the sixth consecutive season, the No. 2 Hawks set their sights on the Loyalist Lancers in the OCAA quarter-finals in an attempt to win their 10th consecutive provincial championship.
