No. 2 HAWKS ADVANCE TO SEMI-FINALS WITH 3-1 WIN

WINDSOR, Ont. -- The No. 2 Humber women's volleyball team advanced to the OCAA semi-final with a 3-1 win over Loyalist College (11-8), Friday, at the St. Clair Sportsplex.  The Hawks (19-0) will face St. Clair (13-6) on Saturday, February 25 at 8 p.m. with a trip to the provincial championship on the line.

The Hawks made quick work of the Lancers in the first two sets, 25-21, 25-17, before Loyalist stormed back to avoid the sweep with a 25-23 win in the third.  The Lancers momentum was short lived, as Humber's balanced attack was too much for Loyalist in the fourth set.

The Hawks improve to 4-0 all-time against the Lancers, in a series that dates back to 2001.

OCAA Rookie of the Year Breanna Golding paced the way for Humber, recording a double-double with 17 kills, 14 digs, and a service ace.  First team all-star Devan O'Connor also finished with 17 kills, while adding four service aces and eight digs.

Second team all-star setter Gabie Miletic finished with a double-double as well, recording a career-high 49 assists and 13 digs.

Head coach Chris Wilkins picked up his 314th win at Humber in his 16th year at the helm of the Hawks.  The 11-time provincial champion has also led the Hawks to 128 consecutive wins in OCAA regular and postseason play.
