HOME SEASON ENDS WITH WIN 3-1 WIN OVER FANSHAWE

ETOBICOKE, ON:  The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team (16-0, 1st West) survived a late scare but managed to defeat the Fanshawe Falcons (8-7, 4th West) in four sets Saturday afternoon (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22).

After clinching a playoff berth earlier in the week, Humber was looking to end their final home game of the regular season with a win for a few final year players against the Falcons.
In the first matchup of the season, Humber swept through Fanshawe on their home-court in straight sets. But on Saturday the Falcons came into the Hawks nest prepared.
Humber breezed through the first two sets and looked as if they were on track to end the game in straight sets for the second time against Fanshawe this season. That was until the Falcons mounted a comeback in the third and carried momentum to challenge Humber in the fourth but fell short.
Alley Newman (Kitchener), was a force at the net for the Hawks leading her team in points on the afternoon. She finished with a season-high 15-points (11 kills, four blocks).
The other two Hawks that finished in double-digits were Breanna Golding (Pickering) who ended with 14 points (nine kills, one ace, four blocks) and Devan O'Connor (Milton) who finished with 12 points (10 kills, two blocks).
Fanshawe's Meghan Morelli (London) finished with a game-high 19-points (15 kills, four blocks) in the loss.
Humber's Ashleigh Darrach was named player of the game in her final home game as a Hawk. She set a new season-high with 13 digs.
Darrach and Newman were the two Hawks playing in their final home game and came through when their team needed them the most. They were both honoured in a pre-game ceremony to honour their time spent with the Hawks.
The Hawks next game is Feb. 10 when they travel to take on the Conestoga Condors.
