CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND FOR No. 2 HAWKS

WINDSOR, Ont. – The No. 2 Humber women's volleyball program is heading to its 10th consecutive OCAA Championship after a straight set sweep of the St. Clair Saints (13-7), Saturday, at the St. Clair Sportsplex.  The Hawks (20-0) will face No. 12 Durham (20-0) on Sunday, February 26 at 5 p.m.

In front of a large, rowdy home crowd, the Hawks scraped out a close victory (25-22, 27-25, 25-23) despite the straight set sweep.  Feeding off the energy from the crowd, the Saints jumped out to a lead in every set, forcing the nine-time defending champions to continuously rally from behind to earn the win.

After a hard fought first set victory, the Hawks were backed into a corner in the second after St. Clair built a 21-14 lead. A timeout from head coach Chris Wilkins was timed perfectly, allowing the Hawks to refocus amidst one of their largest deficits of the season.  At the service line, Brynne Coleman put together a major run, picking up two crucial service aces to allow Humber to storm back before eventually winning the set 27-25.

Coleman finished the match with a team-high nine kills on 23 swings, while Devan O'Connor and Breanna Golding finished with six kills each.  Senior middle Alexandra Newman put together a great performance as well, finishing with five kills and two stuffed blocks.  Defensively, Kyla Wilkins led the way with 12 digs.

The Saints held the Hawks to its second lowest attack percentage of the season at .233.

Setter Gabie Miletic was named player of the game for the Hawks after finishing with a game-high 23 assists and two kills.
