2016 HUMBER VARSITY HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE - CHARLIE LAY

CHARLIE LAY
Athlete
Badminton: 2008-2011

Charlie came to the Hawks as an already established power in OCAA Doubles competition, as he was the 2006/07 Mixed Doubles gold medalist with St. Clair. Within his own disciplines, he went on to medal provincially in every year as a Humber student-athlete. He also was the first Hawk badminton player to snare a CCAA national medal, partnering up in men's doubles in 2008-09 to grab bronze in front of the Hawk faithful on home court at Humber. His efforts led the Hawks to men's, and overall team to two OCAA team championships in each category. In 2000-10 he received the highest honour available to a male badminton player, as he was named the OCAA Player of the Year and an All Canadian. He was so respected as a player and a leader, he went on to serve as a coach for a number of years.

The 2016 Humber Varsity Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Humber College's North Campus. Please join Charlie as she is recognized for an incredible career.
