Erika Dodd headlines OCAA women's volleyball award winners

Humber women's volleyball received the OCAA Player of the Year award, division title, and four all-star selections.

OAKVILLE – No. 2 Humber women's volleyball garnered numerous league accolades when the conference announced its yearly awards, which are determined by a polling of the OCAA coaches.

Highlighting the award winners for Humber was second-year standout Erika Dodd, who became the fourth player in program history to be named the OCAA Player of the Year and the first since legend Thalia Hanniman won in 2015. Dodd quietly put together another successful campaign in the navy and gold, leading the Hawks in points, points-per-set, kills, and kills-per-set while helping the Hawks win another division title. After earning OCAA Rookie of the Year honours last season, the Uxbridge native was once again named a first-team all-star.

Joining Dodd as a first-team selection was All-Canadian Keyome Ellis, who led the OCAA with a 0.425 swing percentage. Ellis finished with a career-high in kills, digs, blocks, and points in a Humber uniform.

Cassidy Andrews and Hannah Manners were named to the second-team after having a massive impact for the Hawks this season. Andrews finished first on the team in blocks and blocks-per-set, while finishing third in kills.

Humber legacy Hannah Manners also had a career year for the Hawks, finishing second on the team in kills. Manners 2022-23 season was so successful that the Toronto native set new career highs in every category.

No. 2 Humber will now set its sights on defending its provincial title, opening the tournament with a quarter-final match on Feb. 23 against Niagara (12-7, 4th West) at Sheridan College. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be streamed live via the Double Blue Network.
