HAWKS LOOK TO TURN SILVER INTO GOLD AT NATIONALS

HAWKS LOOK TO TURN SILVER INTO GOLD AT NATIONALS

CHILLIWACK, BC: The Humber Hawks return a full squad to the CCAA National Women's Golf Championships for the first time in a number of years. A three-member squad, led by OCAA Bronze Medalist Sheila McKeen, will vie for a podium finish at the 2015 championship which is being hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley, and held at the Chilliwack Golf Club.

The Hawks are scheduled to arrive on Sunday, and will play two practice rounds on the championship course, starting with an extra one on Monday and then the scheduled practice round on Tuesday.

The 2015 CCAA Championship Banquet, on Tuesday night, will signify the official opening of the event.

The three-round tournament will commence with the first round on Wednesday, followed by rounds two and three on Thursday and Friday. It is important to note that there is no rain date, and that the event will be completed on Friday. As in the past, there is always a possibility that a three-round event could be decided after a single round.

The women's squad, eerily similar to the men's team, won two of the three rounds at the OCAA Championship but the champion Georgian Grizzlies squad had a single monster round on their way to the gold. The Hawks took silver.

"All three ladies are capable of having their daily result count towards the team score", said Hawks women's coach Maggie Trainor. "And this may be a key in attaining a podium finish come Friday".

The key to the Hawks success, as mentioned by Hawks coach Tarinor, is the consistency shown by all three golfers. For those who may not be aware of CCAA rules, a team may enter three players, but the top two scores each day will count towards the team title race. The OCAA final individual standings had the Humber three-some finish 3rd, 5th and 6th.
