ETOBICOKE - No. 5 Men's basketball (6-0, 1st West) blew out Redeemer College (2-4, 7th West) 113-65 for their most impressive game of the season by far. It was the definition of a team effort, with Humber scoring 56 bench points, five players with double-digits, and 12 players getting on the scoresheet. Jalen Menzies led the scoring individually with 23, but Lucas Lewis was the player of the game, collecting ten points on effective shooting.

Game Recap

Still undefeated and now ranked No. 5 in the nation, facing a team sitting below .500, Humber was looking to take it to Redeemer quickly.

They did just that, gaining a quick 5-0 lead. Humber knew not to underestimate the Royals, who were coming off an impressive performance against St. Clair, the top-ranked team in the nation.

It was a solid quarter for Humber. The Hawks got a nine-point lead midway through the quarter, forcing Redeemer to take its first timeout.

Humber continued to pad the lead in the first, with big buckets from Jayar Harewood and Victoire Ndongo

Humber would take a double-digit lead with three minutes to go in the quarter and wouldn't look back, leading 30-11 after ten minutes of high-flying offensive action.

The high-flying offence continued in the second quarter. Humber is already the best defensive team in the OCAA; when coupled with their best offensive run this season, the Hawks became unstoppable.

Humber went on a 17-4 run to start the quarter. The Hawks would outscore Redeemer 35-21 in the full ten minutes.

Humber would go into halftime with a commanding 65-32 lead, their biggest of the season. Jalen Menzies led the way through 20 minutes, scoring 18 in just 13 minutes of play.

After the break, Humber continued to extend its lead. They were simply unstoppable offensively, and defensively, they nearly shut down Redeemer completely.

Humber's quarter was consistent. They dominated with their positioning, forcing countless turnovers and intercepting passes to convert defence to offence.

Humber would lead 93-50 at the end of the third quarter. A buzzer-beating layup from Dwayne Burke punctuated the 43-point lead.

Back for the fourth quarter, nobody wearing a Hawks uniform could miss. The Hawks came down to earth just three minutes into the quarter, but for those opening minutes, they were ridiculously dominant.

There was no dagger in this one; it might have been Jalen Menzies opening buckets, but it was over by the end of the first quarter.

Humber would win 113-65, their most impressive win of the season by far.
