Men's Golf captures OCAA silver medal in Niagara

NIAGARA – In a two-way battle from the opening tee-off, Humber men's golf captured the OCAA silver medal Wednesday afternoon at the Legends of Niagara – Battlefield. The Hawks battled Fanshawe over the three-day event, falling to the Falcons by five strokes.

Trailing by one stroke heading into the final day, the Hawks put together their best round of the tournament. Daniel Talmage, Matthew Bremer, and Ryan Holwell combined to shoot five-under-par, as the Hawks finished at 285 – its lowest round at provincials since 2011.

Unfortunately for Humber, Fanshawe continued its hot ball striking and finished seven-under-par for the day, earning its first team title since 1992.

Daniel Talmage's three-under-par 69 helped the Toronto native move up the leaderboard, finishing third to earn the OCAA individual bronze medal. Trey Ross finished in fourth, while Matthew Bremer finished in fifth. The trio was named to the OCAA All-Tournament team.

It was a two-team race for the majority of the tournament, as the Georgian Grizzlies finished in third, 44 strokes behind the Hawks.

What's Next?

Humber men's golf will now set its sights on capturing its first national title since 2012, competing at the 2022 CCAA Championship at Deer Creek Golf Club from Oct. 18 – 21.
