CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT SENECA; SHUVERA, VEENSTRA LEAD HAWKS

NORTH YORK, Ont – The Humber cross country program competed at the Seneca Invitational Saturday morning, hosted by Seneca College.  The women's team finished second, while the men's program placed third.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY, 6K
Led by All-Canadian Kaitlin Shuvera's fourth-place finish, the Humber women's cross country team finished second at the Seneca Invitational.  Humber recorded 48 points, with Shuvera, Katelyn Morgan (13th), Maxine Cotton (14th), and Marcia Coelho (17th), all placing in the top-20 at an event that featured the top programs in the province.

Humber's team finish was the program's third consecutive second-place finish to begin the 2017 campaign.

Competing on a challenging course with rolling hills and valleys, Shuvera was Humber's top finisher for the third time this season.

Rounding out the runners for Humber were Patricia Rothenburg with a time of 28.28, Danielle Dupuis with 29.02, and Alex Milne with 29.50.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY, 8K
The Humber men's cross country program secured its third straight top-three finish Saturday afternoon.  Aaron Veenstra paced the way for the Hawks, placing seventh with a time 30.12, his best finish of the season.  Jacob Campbell rounded out the top-10 for Humber, finishing ninth with a time of 30.22.

Other scorers for Humber were Jake Thomson (13th) at 31.13 and Graiden Maynard (17th) at 31.32.

Rounding out the field for the Hawks were Zak Nixon (28th) with a time of 31.34 and Chris Tomlinson (30th) at 31.40.

What's Next:
Humber cross country heads to the Nordiques Invitational on October 14, hosted by Lionel-Groulx and will be the final tune-up race before the 2017 OCAA Championship.
