No. 2 WOMEN'S GOLF TAKES ON CCAA AT CHAMPIONSHIP

WHITBY, Ont – The No. 2 Humber women's golf team will play for its fifth CCAA Championship title this week at the Royal Ashburn Golf Course. The tournament will consist of four 18-hole rounds.

Last Time Out
Humber captured the program's ninth OCAA team title at the Crimson Ridge Golf Course in Sault Ste Marie, leading the tournament from start to finish.  The Hawks were able to hold off No. 1 Georgian, defeating the Grizzlies by eight strokes. Sheila McKeen captured her first OCAA silver medal, while teammate Jordon Newlands finished four strokes back, winning the bronze medal.

Last Year
At the Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club in Stratford, PEI, the Hawks returned to the podium for the second straight year, capturing the CCAA silver medal. Sheila McKeen (79-77-81) finished tied for fifth, while Sonia Nagindas (82-79-83) and Lindsay Voogt (87-96-86) finished ninth and 21st, respectively.

The Field
No. 2 Humber will be joined by No. 1 Champlain St. Lawrence (RSEQ), No. 3 UFV (PACWEST), No. 4 Georgian (OCAA), No. 5 MacEwan (ACAC), No. 6 Medicine Hat (ACAC), No. 7 UBC-Okanagan (PACWEST), and No. 8 UNB (ACAA).

Scouting Humber
Humber enters the Championship with two tournament wins this season, finishing first at the Georgian Invitational and the OCAA Championship.

Scouting the Field
Champlain St. Lawrence (RSEQ) enters the championship as the top-ranked program in the country after capturing 2017 RSEQ Golf Championship.

The Course
Royal Ashburn is a championship golf course well known for its undulating terrain, tree-lined fairways, large greens and exceptional conditioning. Designed for player's of all abilities, Royal Ashburn offers five sets of tee's and can be enjoyed from 4,783 yards to over 7,100.

Opening in 1962, Royal Ashburn has constantly taken steps to enhance the design and playing characteristics of the course and has matured into one of Canada's top 50 ranked golf courses.
