WOMEN'S GOLF CAPTURES 2017 OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

SAULT STE MARIE, Ont – No. 3 Humber women's golf captured the 2017 OCAA Championship Wednesday afternoon, defeating the field by eight strokes at Crimson Ridge Golf Course.  It marks the ninth team title in program history, the most by any school in the province.

Humber remained in control throughout the championship, leading the field at the end of each day.

The Hawks (160-154-166) were able to hold No. 1 Georgian at bay all week, finishing round three 22-over par for an eight-stroke victory.

Sheila McKeen paced the way for Humber, capturing her first OCAA silver medal and was named a CCAA All-Canadian - the 15th in program history.

New addition Jordon Newlands (80-78-85) rounded out the scoring for Humber and captured the OCAA individual bronze medal.

Sonia Nagindas (81-84-91) nearly missed the podium, finishing six-strokes back of teammate Newlands.

What's Next
The 2017 CCAA National Championship will take place at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club, Oct. 17-20.  Humber will look to capture its second title in three years.
