EIGHT STRAIGHT FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

EIGHT STRAIGHT FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

With five decades of unparalleled athletic success, Humber varsity has been the home to some of the greatest student-athletes to ever compete in the CCAA.

With all of the team success, comes individual recognition, another area where Humber Athletics continues to set the standard.  Over the years Humber has had 132 All-Canadians from 97 student-athletes.

No honour may be more significant than the OCAA Athlete of the Year award, which is given to the best student-athlete across all sports.

Dating back to the 2009-10 varsity season, Humber athletes have won an unprecedented eight OCAA Female Athlete of the Year awards.

When the award was created in 1996, it took six years before a Humber athlete claimed the award.  Women’s soccer superstar Joanna Vitale was Humber’s first recipient after she led the Hawks to their third consecutive provincial title.

With nine winners in total, the Hawks lead all OCAA schools by a wide margin, as Durham College sits in second with four total recipients.

Below lists each winner during the streak, along with their accolades from that season.
