MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY CAPTURE FIRST NATIONAL TITLE

CALGARY, AB -- The Humber Hawks cross country team made history on Saturday afternoon, as the men's program captured a National Championship for the first time the program's history.
On the women's side of things, Lindsay Webster finished third individually with a time of 19:13, taking home a CCAA Bronze Medal to go along with her Gold Medal from Provincial's.
Leading the way for the men were the quartet of Daniel Bright, Eric Bang, Their Nunguwenimana, and Ali Ghadghoni, all of whom finished in the top thirty-one. Bright paced the way for Humber, as his time of 28:29 was good for sixteenth place individually; coming in just two seconds later in seventeenth was Bang.
Coby Phillips, Ivon Jaimes and Katherine White all had standout days on the Women's side as well, posting times of 21:05 or better. Phillips placed twenty-third overall, Jaimes thirty-first and White thirty-sixth.
It has been an incredible year for the rapidly ascending program, as the National Gold caps what had already been a standout season. The pair of CCAA Medal's now go along with two Gold's and a Silver won at the OCAA Championship, and a team that is quickly becoming one of Canada's powerhouses will return many runners to next year's squad. The future looks bright for Humber Cross Country, led by a pair of Coach of the Year winners in Teresa Arnini and Monique Haan.
