CAMROSE, ALBERTA: The Humber Hawks men's curling team played three grueling games on Thursday, in what was the only day requiring three draws. The Hawks dropped the first two matches, but played their best game of the championships to end play on the day.

In the first match of the day, it took an incredible last shot draw to the button to give the Red Deer Kings an 8-7 win over the Hawks. It had looked like Humber had set the stage to steal two and grab the win, but the shot by the Kings skip changed everything.

The second was as frustrating a match that the Hawks have been involved in. After a ping pong type affair that saw the teams tied at six heading into the ninth end, it was the NAIT Ooks that stole three to make the lead 9-6 and seemingly out of reach for the Humber foursome. The Hawks responded, and had an opportunity for an open draw for three and force an extra end. Unfortunately, the Hawks last stone came up short of the rings, thus limiting Humber to two and an ultimate loss.

In their best effort of the day, the Hawks knocked off Olds College 10-4, with the teams shaking hands after eight. After scoring just a single with hammer in the first end, Humber stole 2, 2, and 3 in consecutive ends to put the game out of reach early

Humber now sits with a record of 2-3, and an outside chance of moving onto the final four on Saturday. But, that will take two wins on Friday and maybe a bit of luck if tie-breakers come into play.
