HAWKS ROLL TO 2017 OCAA MEN'S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

HAWKS ROLL TO 2017 OCAA MEN'S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

SEMI FINAL

Humber 8 vs Mohawk 2

The Hawks earned the right to defend their 2016 CCAA National Championship, by way of advancing to the OCAA gold medal game. Humber, first place finishers after round robin play, got past an early steal of one by the Mountaineers. They rolled after that point, eventually scoring two in the seventh to cement the win and get the Mohawk team to shake.

GOLD MEDAL GAME

Humber 6 vs Fanshawe 4

After back-to-back blank ends to start the championship match, the Hawks broke the ice by scoring two in the third and held on to a one point lead at the fourth end break. Although Humber extended the lead in the fifth, it was the sixth that provided the turning point of the game.  A huge three point effort seemingly put the game out of reach. Fanshawe, being consistently one of the best programs in the country, would not die and scored three of their own when Humber was trying to run them out of rocks. With the hammer and heading home in the eighth, Humber did run the Falcons out of rocks to snare their first championship of this curling era.
