Cross Country Gears Up for Provincials Saturday

The Storyline
With five races under its belt, the Humber cross country team will compete for a provincial title Saturday at Maiden Park, hosted by St. Clair College.

Tune-Up
The Hawks opened the 2019 campaign at Maiden Park, with both teams finishing in fourth place.

Kayleigh Bush led the women's team in the 6k race, finishing in 12th place with a time 26:27.9. Freshman teammates Megan Raso and Montana Wilkins finished closely behind, placing 14th and 15th, respectively.

Freshman Addison Nixon led the men's team at St. Clair, finishing the 8k race in 15th place with a time of 28:51.6. Cole Czuchnicki rounded out Humber's top-20 scorer's, finishing in 19th place.

Humber at Provincials
The women's team has captured seven team titles, including three straight from 2014-16. The Hawks own four individual titles as well, with the last coming from Lindsay Webster in 2014. Led by Kaitlyn Shuvera, Humber captured the OCAA silver medal last season.

The men's program owns two provincial titles (2006 and 2015). Humber has two individual titles with Anthony Biggar winning gold in 1995 and Colin Murray-Lawson in 2005.

Led by Cole Czuchnicki, the Hawks finished fifth last season at provincials.

In the Rankings
The Humber women's team is currently ranked No. 11 in the national standings, while the men's team sits at No. 12.
