FLAT HAWKS RELEGATED TO 7TH/8TH GAME AFTER STRAIGHT SET LOSS TO LIMOILOU

RED DEER, AB: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team were unable to find the game-play that carried them through much of the season on Friday afternoon at the 2019 CCAA Nationals. In the Bronze Medal Quarterfinal, Humber lost to the defending champion Limoilou Titans (RSEQ) 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-21).

In a match that mirrored their opening tournament loss on Thursday night, the Hawks were unable to get, and sustain a league throughout. On Thursday, their only lead, after the 10 point mark, was a 13-10 edge in the second set versus VIU. That small lead was quickly erased. Today, this time in the third set, Humber bolted out to a 16-11 lead but then gave up a seven point run. They were not able to recover.

They did battle, but every time they drew within one the Titan would side-out and increase the lead to two. Humber was never able to get even late in matches.

With the loss, they will face the Holland Hurricanes (ACAA) on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the placement match.

Dylan Devecseri was the only Hawk to reach double figures on the afternoon, as he checked in with 10 points.

Jake Gomes was a solid contributor for the Hawks, as his line read 20 assists, 5 digs, 2 kills and 1 service ace. For his efforts, Gomes was named Humber's Player of the Game.
