
HAWKS OPEN CHASE FOR OCAA CROWN ON HOME COURT ON THURSDAY VS MOHAWK
ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team, who advanced to the 2019 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship as hosts, will take to the court for the first time in playoff action on Thursday night. Humber will face a familiar opponent in the West's Mohawk Mountaineers, with the opening serve scheduled for 6:00 pm. The Mountaineers advanced by way of a 3-1 crossover playoff road win over the Seneca Sting.
LAST TIME OUT VS MOHAWK
The two teams recently met, as they closed out the 2019 regular season in Hamilton. The visiting Hawks soared to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-14) straight set victory. Dylan Devesceri of Humber, and Elijah Lopez of Mohawk led the day in scoring, with 11 offensive points each.
REGULAR SEASON IMPACT
The Hawks ended in second in the West Division with a 16-2 record. They ranked second in the OCAA and 5th nationally. Mohawk finished in sixth place in the West, and checked in with an even 9-9 win/loss mark.
OF NOTE HISTORICALLY
The two teams have played 53 times in regular season play, with Humber winning 34 times. Both teams have had significant runs against the others over the past decade, with each team recording championships along the way.
ON A ROLL
Humber has won two straight, and ten of eleven. Mohawk has won three of four, including the crossover playoff win on Saturday.

Mohawk has a new slate of coaches, with Vinny Saporito taking over the helm.
Wayne Wilkins is the second winningest coach in Humber history, and now holds a mark of 349 OCAA and CCAA league and playoff wins, against only 121 losses. Wayne also has a rarity, and that is a CCAA National title to his credit.
