Softball has three players named league all-stars

LONDON – After finishing the season in second place with an 18-6 record, the Hawks received three selections to the all-OCAA teams, which was determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

No stranger to individual and team success, Alexis Ferreira was named a first-team all-star for the second straight season. The Mississauga native appeared in 23 games for the Hawks, hitting over .400 for the third time in four seasons. Ferreira's five long balls once again led the team and the star third baseman has now swatted 14 home runs for her career.

Christina D'Angelo joined Ferreira as a first-team selection, leading the team and finishing fourth in the conference with a .508 batting average – the sixth-highest in program history.  The Mississauga native also finished tied for third in the league with 12 stolen bases.

Crushing new career highs across the board, Jessica MacPherson was named a second-team all-star. The Essex native crushed four home runs in 22 games, and her 27 RBIs were the fourth-most in program history.

Humber softball will now set its sights on the OCAA Championship after receiving a first-round bye with its second-place finish. The Hawks will open the tournament on Oct. 21 at 9 a.m.
