GOLF SEASON CONCLUDES FOR HUMBER

GOLF SEASON CONCLUDES FOR HUMBER

BARRIE, Ont -- The career of one of the finest student-athletes to play for the Humber men's golf program came to a close Thursday after the final round of the 2017 Canadian University/College Golf Championships.

Senior Christian McCullough, who represented Humber with class on and off the course, sank his final putt in a Hawk uniform and proceeded to shake hands with his coaches and teammates on the last green at Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club.  McCullough helped lead Humber to two provincial championships and a national silver over the past five seasons.

McCullough, a two-time All-Canadian who shot a program record 54-hole low six-under par in 2013, posted rounds of 78-78-74-78 to finish tied for 22nd at 24-over on the par-71 track.  His final 18 holes included ten pars.

As a team, Humber (310-308-306-310) finished eighth, missing out on a top-five finish by 18 strokes. Despite cold temperatures and wind gusts reaching as high as 50 kilometres per hour, the Hawks finished the final day with the lowest team total at 310.

Luke McLean (75-77-80-78) was 26-over and finished tied for 27th.  Conner Watt (79-79-79-77) was 30-over for the tournament and tied for 35th.

Cameron Brennan (78-82-78-77) and Michael Vance (82-74-75-84) tied for 39th after finishing 31-over.

After winning an OCAA bronze medal this season, the Hawks extended their league record to 21 consecutive seasons with a team medal.
