HAWKS LOOK TO SET STANDARD AS OCAA PRE-SEASON BEGINS

LONDON, ON: The Humber Hawks women's and golf teams will look to establish themselves as the teams to beat, as they open pre-season play in London this weekend at the Fanshawe Invitational.

Last year, it was the women that snared the CCAA national title, after finishing second in the OCAA. Humber returns three players from that squad, including national medalist Sonia Nagindas and OCAA medalist Sheila McKeen.

"We have a terrific base returning", said Hawk women's coach Adrian Cord. "The team has worked extremely hard throughout the summer and should be in top form quickly this fall."

The Hawks men saw their nine year reign as OCAA champions come to a close, but they still snared the OCAA silver medal. They too, return a number of players from last year's squad.

"We have a lot of familiar faces around the clubhouse this season", said Hawk men's coach Bick Trichilo. "They are eager to get back to the OCAA championships and take a run at returning the title to Humber."

The tournament this weekend will take place at the Forest City Country Club in London.
