Men's Golf Hosts Gannon Spring Invitational Saturday at Whispering Woods Golf Course

The Gannon men's golf team entertains seven teams Saturday afternoon in the program's only home event of the spring season. Gannon joins California (Pa.), Daemen, Humber, Mercyhurst, Penn State Behrend and Roberts Wesleyan in the race for the team title. The Gannon Spring Invitational is a one-day, 18-hole championship event. The Golden Knights finished second out of six teams at last year's event. Gannon is coming off an eighth-place finish at the West Chester Invitational on April 9-10. The Golden Knights' best finish this season was a fifth-place showing at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational on September 25-26. Junior Matt Barto (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg) owns the team's best average with 75.5 strokes per 18 holes through 14 rounds in 2016-17. Following Saturday's action, Gannon concludes the regular season Sunday, April 23 and Monday, April 24 at the Mercyhurst Spring Invitational.
