HAWKS ROLL TO 2ND CONSECUTIVE OCAA INDOOR SOCCER CROWN

ANCASTER, ON: The Humber Hawks women's indoor soccer team absolutely rolled to their second consecutive OCAA title, winning both playoff games on Saturday and surrendering only a single goal through six matches. Over the six games they scored fourteen times.

The Hawks knocked off Sheridan 3-0 in the semi-final, and then defeated Seneca by that same margin in the final.

Rebecca Spratt was solid throughout the tournament, capping her effort off with the Hawks final goal of the championship, on her way to be selected as the championship MVP.

Vanessa Fiore, who had five clean sheets in the six matches played, and did so with a severely injured hand, was the Top Keeper of the championship.

Shaniece Bennet was a scoring sensation, as she potted goals in five of the six matches. She was a championship all-star.

CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL:

Humber 3 vs Sheridan 0

Humber continued to do what they did all week, and that is run out to a lead early and building on it. Once they got the opening marker, they controlled both ends of the pitch, not allowing the Bruins any opportunities to get back into the match. Goal scorers were Zanardi, Bennett and Spratt.

GOLD MEDAL GAME

Humber 3 vs Seneca 0

The Hawks got goal scoring from three players and the clean sheet from Fiore. Giulia Zanardi opened the scoring very early in the first half. Bennett scored the insurance marker, and then MVP Spratt put the game out of reach. Humber had beaten Seneca by a similar 3-0 score in round robin play.
