HAWKS ADVANCE THROUGH POOL PLAY AS FIRST PLACE TEAM

ANCASTER, ON: The Humber Hawks women's indoor soccer team finished day 2 at the 2018 OCAA Championships with a 2-0 record, and they advance to the semi-final on Saturday. The By way of their first place finish in pool play, with a 3-0-1 record, they will face the second place team from the other pool. The winners of semis will head to gold, while the losers will vie for bronze. 

GAME 1:

Humber 2 vs Durham 0

The Hawks scored late in the first half, as Shaniece Bennett found the back of the net. Bennett did it again in the second half, and Vanessa Fiore provided the shutout

GAME 2:

Humber 1 vs St. Clair 1

Humber fell behind early in the first half, as the Saints broke free to get the jump on the rematch of the teams in the gold medal game last year. Shaniece Bennett was once again the scoring hero for Humber, tying up the match with four minutes left in the match. 

GAME 3:

Humber 3 vs Seneca 0

The Hawks started the day in a fine way, knocking off the Seneca Sting, comfortably by a 3-0 margin. Giulia Zanardi was the scoring star in this one, potting the pair. Dominika Philip supported the cause with her first of the championship. Vanessa Fiore had another shutout for Humber.

GAME 4:

Humber 2 vs George Brown 0

The shutout win vaulted Humber over the 3-1 Seneca Sting team and into first in the pool. The Hawks ran out to a quick 2-0 lead, and held that margin at the half. Giulia Zanardi and Shaniece Bennett provided the goals, whil Fiore made it 3 shutouts in the four games played.

SEMI-FINAL:

Humber vs Sheridan - Saturday, March 24 @ 11:00 am

MEDAL GAME (GOLD OR BRONZE) - Saturday, March 24 @ 2:00 pm
