No. 1 Humber men's soccer will host the Fanshawe Falcons (1-0) on Sept. 13 for its 2023 home opener. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

2022 Highlights
  • The Hawks captured their second straight national title, defeating Seneca 2-1 in extra-time.
  • Luca Uccello was named the OCAA Male Athlete of the Year – across all sports.
  • Humber finished with a perfect record for the second time in program history, ending the year with a 16-0-0 record.
  • Damion Kaye and Uccello led the team in scoring, finishing with ten tallies each.
At the Helm

Legendary head coach Michael Aquino returns for his tenth season after becoming Humber's most decorated team sport coach. Coach Aquino captured his sixth national title, making him the most accomplished head coach in CCAA men's soccer history. He owns a 115-8-8 (.908) record through nine seasons, including a brilliant 46-4 record in postseason play.

OCAA Hall of Famer Jason Mesa returns for his 17th season with Alessandro Sabatini (10th season) and Dominic Ientile (5th season) on Coach Aquino's staff.

Fresh Faces

With the loss of multiple key pieces from the 2022 season, nine players will be donning the navy and gold for the first time this season:

  1. Adam Czerkawski, Defender, Clarkson – appeared in 24 caps for the UTM Eagles (2017-20), recording two tallies.
  2. Matthew Laic, Defender, Burlington – appeared in 11 regular season matches for the TMU Bold, capturing the OUA silver medal and finishing fifth at nationals in 2022.
  3. Christian Inchima, Midfielder, Barrier – played three seasons between Mississippi Gulf Coast (NJCAA) and East Tennessee (NCAA D1) between 2019-22.
  4. Christian Keshishian, Forward, Scarborough – appeared in 11 caps for the Iowa Lakers (NJCAA) in 2022, recording two tallies.
  5. Franz Mella, Midfielder, Toronto – son of Humber soccer legend Adolfo Mella, who led the Hawks to their first-ever provincial title and a CCAA silver medal in 1994. Mella was Humber's first Golden Boot recipient, recording 12 tallies in eight matches that season. Making postsecondary debut.
  6. Tomas Joseph, Midfielder, Brampton – making postsecondary debut.
  7. James Lima – making postsecondary debut.
  8. Matthew Paiva – making postsecondary debut.
  9. Sebastian Contreras – making postsecondary debut.

The Hawks open the season as the top-ranked program in the CCAA.

Come Correct

The Hawks have won 24 straight home openers in 1996.

Welcome Back

Exosse Kadiebue and Michael Fayehun will return to the squad after missing the 2022 season.

All in the Family

On Sept. 22, the 2022 squad will receive their CCAA championship ring during family night at the North Campus Gym.

Streaking

Humber soccer has won 24 consecutive matches - the second-longest win streak during the Coach Aquino era. Humber's longest win streak is 37 from 2015 to 2017.

Humber has won 10 straight matches at home – dating back to the 2019 season.
