Bio

Every successful program needs an unsung hero like Kingsley Boasiako, an ultra-loyal workhorse who put in years of tireless effort on Humber's behalf.

A six-foot-three centre-back, Boasiako's defensive superiority was on display every match. He harried, tackled, and cleared whatever the opposition sent in the direction of the goal he was defending, a role never likely to earn stardom but which he carried out with tireless efficiency.

His most spectacular triumph was the duel with Capilano in the 2015 CCAA final in Saint-Lambert. Down two men for almost 100 minutes of game action, Boasiako and the Hawks were able to keep the Blues' offence in check. Every longball and cross sent into the Humber end was cleared away by the Brampton native, and every one-on-one battle, Boasiako was the victor. After 120 scoreless minutes, Humber would pull off the impossible, capturing the program's fifth national title after winning in a penalty shoot-out.

His presence on the pitch forced opposing managers to gameplan around him, rarely with any success. Boasiako's leadership, toughness, and ability to react quickly helped him garner four defensive player of the year selections, and before he hung up his boots, he was named a CCAA All-Canadian.

Bio

Few goalkeepers have dominated on the national stage as Eugenio Garro did during his tenure with Humber soccer. His big frame was matched by his ability to play his best in the biggest moments, frequently showcasing his reaction saves of incredible agility. He strove to deliver peak performances and success for the Hawks, and in doing so, he set the highest of standards for himself and his teammates.

Garro made an immediate impact with the Hawks during his freshman campaign in 2012 and was instrumental in returning Humber soccer to national glory. A key part of Humber's formidable defence, he recorded three wins at provincials without surrendering a goal. Later in British Columbia, he made countless critical saves, but none bigger than during the penalty shoot-out in the national final against VIU. In the eighth round, Garro guessed correctly and used his long wingspan to knock the shot up and over the crossbar, ending Humber's 11-year national drought and earning his first of two championship most valuable player honours.

After a year removed from the program, Garro returned in 2015 and at the national championship in Saint-Lambert, he cemented his status as one of the top keepers to ever don the navy and gold. The improbability of winning that title remains etched in Humber lore, a story that will stand the test of time. Garro did not surrender a tally through the first two rounds; however, he and the Hawks were put to the ultimate test in the final against Capilano. With two men sent off in the first 30 minutes of play, they held off the Capilano attack for almost 100 minutes. Needing a penalty shoot-out once again, Garro read the first three shots correctly, narrowly missing a save each time. In the fourth round, he sprawled to his right, denying Capilano and Michael Aigbokie proceeded to bury his shot, completing the most improbable victory in CCAA soccer history.

2017 OCAA Indoor All-Star
2016 Humber Freshman of the Year
3x Humber Soccer Team MVP ('16, '17, '18)

Bio

Jaineil Hoilett has mastered almost every pinnacle of success a soccer player can aim to achieve at Humber. He was a genius playmaker and a brilliant technician with a knack for finding the back of the net when Humber needed him the most. His play always had a sleek and elegant air, and his actions were characterized by an unrivalled lightness and dynamism. Blessed with exceptional two-footed shooting ability, he oozed goals from the wing but also had an eye for an incisive pass to set up a teammate.

Hoilett joined the squad in 2015, capturing a provincial and national title, and from there, his collection of honours grew and grew. As a freshman, he was a CCAA All-Canadian recipient and named the most valuable player at the provincial championship. More importantly, his desire to be the best on the pitch carried over to the classroom, where he received Academic All-Canadian honours - the CCAA's most prestigious student-athlete honour.

Hoilett made 47 competitive appearances for the Hawks, scoring 31 goals - the sixth most in program history. Despite the success he had at scoring goals, one of Hoilett's signature moments came in his final match for the Hawks. In the 2018 national title game in Prince Edward Island, Ahuntsic was determined to keep Hoilett off of the stat sheet. In the 28th minute and with three Ahuntsic players draped all over him, Hoilett sent a cross into the box for Riley Ferrazzo, who buried what turned out to be the game-winner. He would later be named the championship most valuable player, concluding his brilliant career with three national titles and three championship all-tournament selections.

Gerardo Magno (CDM | 2012-17)
Medals

4x CCAA National Champion ('12, '13, '15, '16)
4x OCAA Provincial Champion ('12, '13, '15, '16)
2x OCAA Indoor Champion ('15, '16)

2014 OCAA Silver Medal
2017 OCAA Indoor Bronze

Accolades

2015 CCAA Championship All-Tournament Team
2013 OCAA Championship MVP
2x OCAA League All-Star ('14, '16)
2014 Humber Soccer Team MVP

Bio

Eccentric, tough and determined to win at all costs, Gerardo Magno was a catalyst for Humber soccer's return to national relevance in the 2010s. Magno helped Humber end its 11-year national title drought in 2012, and they were CCAA national champions four times during his career - making him one of the most successful players in program history.

As a central defensive midfielder, Magno became the undisputed lynchpin and driving force at Humber, while his name became a synonym for the ideal penalty shoot-out taker; enough to instill fear into opposing goalkeepers everywhere. It seemed like every time he stepped to the spot, Humber's title hopes were on the line. His calm demeanour when all eyes were on him left his teammates and fans at ease, knowing he would convert and send the Hawks to glory.

Magno bled navy and gold, and he played the game with passion and emotion - most noticeably against conference rivals, the Sheridan Bruins. His desire to triumph over the Bruins led to one of his signature moments in the 2013 OCAA semifinal at Algonquin. After 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, Magno had the opportunity to send the Hawks to their third straight final. His brilliant effort from 12 yards out could be described as perfection, curling his shot into the top right corner of the net before being piled on by teammates and coaches, leading to his championship MVP selection.

2016-17 Humber Male Athlete of the Year
Humber Soccer Player of the Decade (2010-19)

Bio

If there was a ball and a goal, nothing could stop Marcos Nunes. Not defenders, not distance, not great goalkeepers, nor even the laws of physics at times. That is why he scored 43 of them in his time with Humber soccer. He was the quintessential goalscorer, a striker with a unique ability to find the net. In the early years of his career, he regularly recorded tallies with pace and distance never before seen at Humber.

Nunes' record with the program in his four seasons explains why he is one of the most talked about and most successful players ever to pull on the navy and gold jersey. The king of goalscorers, he's become the measure of Humber soccer.

Every season he played, the Hawks won a national championship. Nunes never lost a postseason match, and in 24 games, he recorded 25 tallies – including nine at the big dance.

In 2016, which some argue was Humber soccer's greatest team, there were honours aplenty for Nunes, most notably earning the CCAA Player of the Year award. He was also the OCAA Golden Boot recipient that season and earned his second CCAA Championship MVP selection.

A half-decade removed from his last stint with the Hawks, Nunes returned in 2021 to further his education. He quickly reminded the league why he was the best ever to play, recording a hat trick in his first match back. He was again showered with medals and accolades, but none were higher than his CCAA Academic All-Canadian selection - the CCAA's most prestigious student-athlete honour.

In 2022, he became just the third player in program history to have their jersey honoured by Humber Athletics.
