HAWKS OPEN REGULAR SEASON ON SUNDAY AT HOME VS SENECA

ETOBICOKE, ON: Women's Softball is back! This Sunday, the Hawks will open up their OCAA season vs the Seneca Sting, in a double header at the Brampton Fairgrounds. Last season, the Hawks swept the four game set against the Sting, outscoring the Sting 49-0 over the four games set.

Last time out vs Seneca

In their last meeting, the Hawks looked to continue their five game win-streak and sweep the season series with the Sting. In the previous three contests the Hawks had beaten the Sting 10-0, 10-0, and 11-0. The trend would continue as the Hawks took flight quickly in the first, putting up five runs and continuing to add runs in the third and fifth inning on route to a dominating 18-0 win over the Sting. Briana Donaldson got the ball for the Hawks and was dominant going five scoreless, scattering three hits and racking up six punch outs along the way. Offensively each of the Hawks who were in the lineup tallied a hit and scored a run as a part of the offensive onslaught. Offensive standouts included; Outfielder, Elisa Gregoris who tallied three hits, four runs and two RBI's. As well, Outfielder, Kate Kostich had three hits, and four RBI's.


Scouting Seneca

  • Seneca comes into this season expecting to improve on their 2016 OCAA campaign
  • The Sting finished 0-24 last season in OCAA play
  • Seneca averaged 0.5 runs per game offensively and allowed 13.7 runs per game last season

 

Hawk Notes

  • Hawks are 14-0 over the past four seasons against the Sting
  • Hawks have two medals in the last four seasons (gold in 2013 and silver in 2015)
  • The Hawks have taken the pre-season by storm going 5-0, averaging 8.2 runs for and 1.8 runs against

What's next?

Following the home opener on Sunday, the Hawks are traveling to Kitchener to play the Conestoga Condors, in a double header Wednesday night. The games will be played at Riverside Park, with first pitches slated for 6:00 pm & 8:00 pm.   

 

2017 OCAA Women's Softball Championships

Humber is the proud host of the 2017 championship tournament. The event will take place on Friday & Saturday, October 20 & 21/17 (with Sunday as a rain day), and will be held at the Brampton Fairgrounds Field.
