Humber's Ray Chateau named inaugural OCAA Administrator of the Year

ETOBICOKE – It's only fitting that the inaugural OCAA Athletic Administrator of the Year award was given to Humber's Ray Chateau – the most decorated athletic director in the history of the conference.

Under the guidance of Chateau, Humber Athletics once again had another record-breaking season. Humber's eight CCAA gold medals this season was a new school record and was more than 21 active OCAA institutions have in their entire history.  The Hawks finished with 12 national medals in total: eight gold, two silver and two bronze.

Humber also extended its record of 20-plus provincial medals to 12 straight seasons – finishing with 13 gold, four silver, and five bronze medals.

The Hawks once again embodied the definition of student-athlete, winning two consecutive CCAA Academic All-Canadian Recognition awards. They will earn their third this summer after a national record 23 players were named Academic All-Canadians this season.

Humber was the host of the 2023 CCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship – the third national championship since the beginning of the 2021-22 season.

A long-time OCAA Senior Leadership Council member, Chateau stepped into the role of OCAA President for the second time late last year. Chateau was previously Past President and First Vice President. Chateau encourages Humber employees to take on volunteer roles as OCAA Senior and Junior Convenors.

It's been an incredible two-year stretch for Ray Chateau, who was named the 2022 CCAA Athletic Director of the Year, the 2022 Robert A. Gordan Leadership Award recipient, and the Gold Winner of the 2023 CICan's Award of Excellence. His banner was raised to the Humber rafters this fall as the golf coach, where he captured ten national team titles in 12 seasons. In June, he will be enshrined in the CCAA Hall of Fame for his incredible accomplishments as a coach.
