SIX HAWKS HEAD WEST IN SEARCH OF CCAA NATIONAL GOLD

SIX HAWKS HEAD WEST IN SEARCH OF CCAA NATIONAL GOLD

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks, winners of three of the five disciplines in the recent OCAA Championships, will travel to Concordia University in Edmonton on Tuesday with hopes of CCAA National gold.

Humber has had incredible success at the national level, winning gold in men's doubles, women's doubles and women's singles last year – a record for any Ontario institution. They will look to match that number this year, as they will compete in three disciplines.

WOMEN'S DOUBLES: Chloe Rowe & Liz Duong

Chloe Rowe is the OCAA Female Player of the Year and won national gold in this discipline last year. This season she teams up with Liz Duong, and only have a single blemish on their record and that did not come back to haunt them as they went on to the provincial crown. Chloe's experience could be a key factor in a favourable podium finish.

MEN'S DOUBLES: Cameron Lai & Darcy Schmidt

The duo had some challenges along the way, as the men's doubles was the most competitive event of the OCAA provincials. This fact did not stop the pair from going undefeated and not dropping a set on their way to the title. They will need a similar effort, and continue to close out tight matches if they want to stand alone at the top, at the end of the nationals.

MIXED DOUBLES: Crystal Qu & Arpit Teneja

This duo were added to the Humber roster in the second semester and then rolled to the OCAA title without losing a set. Although they have been together for a short period of time, they melded together quickly to dominate the field. If health remains intact for both, a run at the title may be in the cards.

OF NOTE

Chloe Rowe will receive her All-Canadian award at the championship banquet
