BREANNA GOLDING - FEMALE FRESHMAN ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
ETOBICOKE, ON: There are few freshman players that spring into the starting lineup of the highly successful Humber Hawks women's volleyball team. It takes a special player to not only break into the starting seven, but an even more impactful one to make a difference.
Breanna Golding was that special find for Coach Wilkins and the coaching staff this season. Almost instantly she was a game changer, as she was selected as the MVP at the Niagara Invitational in a preseason tune-up.
At season's end, she was second in scoring (3.8 points per set) for Humber and ninth in the entire league. The coaches in the OCAA recognized her contributions to the Hawks 10th consecutive title run by selecting her as both the OCAA West and Overall Rookie of the Year, and as a first team all-star.
