Game Recap

Riding a two-game winning streak, the Hawks were looking to take advantage of the Falcons Friday evening. It was a slow start for both teams, with Humber and Fanshawe struggling to get the rock to fall. A lacklustre effort from both teams would result in the score being 5-4 in favour of Fanshawe at the midway point of the quarter. The Hawks would manage to regain the lead thanks to baskets from Sidney Crawford and Teija Wareham, and by the end of the quarter, they had started to regain their offensive touch. Humber would score two key baskets down the stretch and end the quarter with a 17-11 lead.

Humber kept its momentum early in the second half with three consecutive three-pointers. Before Fanshawe could even get settled in they were looking at a ten-point deficit. Kia Watt would catch fire, scoring seven points in the first two-and-a-half minutes. Fanshawe would mount a slight comeback, cutting the lead to eight and forcing the Hawks to take a timeout with just over four minutes left in the half.  The Hawks would regain their composure before the end of the half, though, thanks to key buckets from Sidney Crawford. The fourth-year guard had ten points at the half. The Hawks would go into halftime leading 38-29.

Fanshawe started the second half well, controlling the pace of play and cutting Humber's lead to five. The Hawks didn't let it slide for long and took the game right back, re-gaining their nine-point lead. After their brief push, the Falcons collapsed, settling for contested shots and struggling to hit the backboard. The Hawks smelt blood in the water and attacked. By the end of the quarter, Humber was up 54-38. Sidney Crawford and Kia Watt led the Hawks with 15 points each.

The Hawks didn't slow down in the fourth and focused on securing the win. The Falcons played a relaxed defensive game, patiently waiting for Humber to enter the offensive zone before applying any pressure. The teams would look even down the stretch, but Humber would come away with the win, 75-52.

Sidney Crawford was the player of the game with a career-high 15 points on 60 percent (six-for-ten) shooting from the floor.
