Women’s Basketball heading to Italy
ETOBICOKE – Humber women's basketball is heading to Italy for a special educational and basketball experience for its student-athletes, with a week of learning and games Aug. 16 - 26.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for these student-athletes to learn about and experience another culture, connect with the people of Italy, and showcase Humber basketball internationally," said Ray Chateau, Director of Athletics and Recreation. "Humber College has always encouraged our students to gain knowledge through international experiences, and we are glad to provide them with this opportunity."
The Hawks will depart Toronto on August 16 and take an overnight flight to Italy's capital, where they will spend two days with guided tours of the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum.
Humber will play its first two games in Rome on August 19 against the Michigan Wolverines at 12:00 am ET. The two squads will meet up again the next day, as well, scheduled for 5:00 pm ET.
After the game, the team will travel by bus to Florence and explore the city on August 21, where they will take part in guided tours of Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and San Lorenzo Leather market. On the 22nd, the Hawks will play their third game of the trip, against Montensi Firenze at 5 pm ET.
Humber will finish its trip in Naples, visiting numerous cathedrals and museums. Humber's final game will be on the 25th against Salerno Basket 92 at 12:30 am ET.
Before coming home, the Hawks will go on a boat cruise of the Amalfi Coast while enjoying one last meal in Italy before returning to Toronto on August 26.
