HUMBER'S CEEJAY NOFUENTE NAMED TO DEVELOPMENT WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
TORONTO, Ont -- Ceejay Nofuente, Humber's all-time leading scorer, has made the final roster for the Development Women's National Team, as announced by Canada Basketball's Women's High Performance Program earlier today.
A two-time CCAA All-Canadian, Nofuente and the rest of the squad will leave for Tokyo on August 9 to compete at the U24 Women Basketball League Four Nations 2017, where they will face off against Japan, the USA and Australia. Canada tips-off tournament play on August 12 against host Japan at 3:30 AM ET.
At the conclusion of that tournament, the team will then travel to Taipei City, Taiwan to compete at the Taipei 2017 29th Summer Universiade.
A native of Toronto, Nofuente is one of five guards selected to play for head coach Fabian McKenzie.
Last season with the Hawks, Nofuente appeared in all 18 regular season games and became the first female student-athlete to be named OCAA Female Athlete of the Year in consecutive seasons. The fourth-year point guard once again led the OCAA with 124 assists and 101 steals, while contributing a team-leading 21.9 points-per-game.
