PREVIEW: No. 2 HAWKS PREP FOR NATIONAL SEMI-FINALS
WINDSOR, ON: After defeating the no. 7 St. Mary's Lightning in the first round of the 2016 CCAA National Championship, the no. 2 Humber Hawks will now set their sights on the no. 3 NAIT Ooks from Alberta.
Both programs advanced after impressive first round wins, with Humber defeating St. Mary's 83-47 and NAIT defeating VIU 74-36.
NAIT is fresh off their first ever ACAC championship and have continued their explosive play into the national tournament. Fourth-year forward Torey Hill leads the team in points (12.6) and rebounds (7.2) per game.
In the ACAC championship, the Ooks defeated St. Mary's 69-66. Hill and Malesha Petterson scored in double-digits for the Ooks in the win. The six-foot-three Hill also had 13 rebounds.
The Hawks are making their second straight championship semi-final but will be looking to improve on last season's result. In 2015, the Hawks suffered their first loss in three months after falling to College Montmorency 50-38.
A win against NAIT will send Humber to their first ever national championship title game. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm EST and can be streamed live here.
