PETERBOROUGH, Ont -- With a berth to the national championship on the line, the Humber men's soccer team fell to Algonquin after 11 rounds of penalty kicks, 7-6.
Humber controlled possession through the midfield for the better part of the match and had several scoring opportunities, but the Hawks were never able to squeeze one behind the Thunder backline.
Scoreless after 90 minutes, Humber continued to force the issue offensively, getting several corner kick opportunities but the Thunder were able to clear them all and send the game to penalty kicks.
In the penalty shootout, Humber shot first, scoring on its first two attempts. Keeper Daniel Voci, who relieved Nick Frenati after 115 minutes, guessed right on numerous shots and made five saves. With the game on the line for the fourth time, Voci guessed right once again; however, the ball just squeezed past his outstretched arm.

- Humber's unbeaten streak was snapped at 42 straight - a span of 1,101 days.
- Despite the loss, Humber's keepers – comprised of Eugenio Garro, Nick Frenati, and Daniel Voci – have not allowed a goal in 495 minutes of play.
What's Next
Humber will play Niagara College in the bronze medal game on Oct. 28 at noon. The Hawks will have a chance to win the program's eighth consecutive provincial medal.
